THREE EAST VALLEY YARD UPDATES FOR June

June is when summer officially takes over in the East Valley. Summer starts on June 21st, and once that heat locks in, a few small decisions right now make a big difference in how your yard holds up through the months ahead. There is also one treatment this month that sets you up before monsoon season hits in July.

Here are our three June yard updates to help you protect your yard as the heat arrives.

1. Hold off on herbicide and fertilizer once the heat sets in

As soon as summer temperatures take over, this is the month to pause your selective herbicide and fertilizer treatments. The reason is simple. The sun heats those chemicals enough to scorch the very lawn and plants you are trying to help, which leaves you with burn damage instead of a healthier yard.

If weeds or feeding are on your mind, the smart move is to time it right rather than risk it in peak heat. Our weed control and lawn care teams can make sure your yard gets what it needs at the right time.

Holding off during the heat helps your yard:

  • Avoid chemical burn on your grass and plants
  • Keep your lawn looking healthy through the hottest stretch
  • Get treatments at the right time instead of paying to repair damage

2. Trim your Mexican fan palms before the seed pods drop

Do you have Mexican fan palms? June is the month to trim them, right as the seed pods start sprouting. Trimming now removes those pods before they drop and scatter seeds all over your yard, which saves you from the mess and the unwanted palm seedlings that follow.

Get the timing right and you keep your palms clean, healthy, and looking sharp through the summer. Our tree and palm trimming team can take care of it for you.

Trimming your palms in June helps you:

  • Remove seed pods before they drop and spread
  • Prevent the mess and cleanup that comes with scattered seeds
  • Keep your palms looking clean and well-maintained all summer

3. June is the window for pre-emergent before monsoon

June is one of only two months we strongly recommend a pre-emergent treatment, and the timing is everything. Putting it down now knocks out weeds before they germinate, so you are not fighting a yard full of them once monsoon season rolls in next month.

Monsoon rain is the biggest weed trigger of the year. A pre-emergent now is what stands between you and a major weed problem in July. Our weed control team can get you on the schedule before the rain arrives.

Applying pre-emergent in June helps you:

  • Stop weeds before they sprout instead of chasing them after
  • Stay ahead of the monsoon weed surge in July
  • Spend less time and money on weeds later in the season
